Hot Avocado Apps (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the MyGames Database and Task Attack mobile applications (the “Apps”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Apps.
Information We Collect
Personal Data: We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, by contacting us via email).
Usage and Analytics Data: Our Apps collect anonymous usage data — including app interactions, feature adoption, session activity, and error reports — to help us improve performance and stability. This data is not linked to your identity.
Purchase Data: If you subscribe to MyGames Pro or make an in-app purchase, purchase and subscription status data is processed to manage your access to premium features. We do not have access to your payment details.
Data Stored on Your Device: MyGames Database stores your game collection data (titles, ratings, reviews, strategies, play status, and game metadata) locally on your device using Core Data. Task Attack stores your tasks and preferences locally. We do not have access to this data.
iCloud Sync: If you have iCloud enabled, your locally stored data is synced across your devices using Apple’s CloudKit service. This data is stored in your private iCloud container and is not accessible to us.
Camera: MyGames Database uses your device’s camera solely to scan barcodes for game lookups. Camera images are processed on-device and are not stored or transmitted.
Steam Import: If you choose to import your Steam library, your Steam ID and game ownership data are retrieved from Steam’s servers. This is initiated only by you and the data is stored locally on your device.
Third-Party Services
Our Apps use the following third-party services. Each service operates under its own privacy policy:
- Apple App Store & iCloud — For app distribution, in-app purchases, subscriptions, and syncing your data across devices. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies.
- RevenueCat — Manages subscription status and in-app purchases. Receives purchase transaction data to verify your subscription entitlements. Data is not linked to your identity. RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — Collects anonymous analytics and error data to help us improve the Apps. No personally identifiable information is collected or linked to your identity. PostHog’s Privacy Policy.
- IGDB (Internet Game Database) — Provides game metadata (titles, descriptions, artwork, ratings, etc.) when you search for or view game details. Search queries are sent to IGDB’s servers. IGDB is a Twitch subsidiary; Twitch’s Privacy Notice applies.
- Steam Web API — Used only when you initiate a Steam library import. Your Steam ID is sent to Steam’s servers to retrieve your game library. Steam’s Privacy Policy.
- YouTube — Game trailer videos may be displayed using YouTube’s embedded player. YouTube’s terms and privacy policy apply when videos are played. YouTube’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your game collection data, reviews, and preferences are stored locally on your device and in your private iCloud container. You can delete your data at any time by deleting individual entries within the app or by deleting the app entirely. Removing the app removes all locally stored data. To remove iCloud data, you can manage your iCloud storage through your device’s Settings.
Analytics data collected by PostHog is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you. Subscription data managed by RevenueCat is retained in accordance with their data retention policies.
Children's Privacy
Our Apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All network communication uses HTTPS encryption. Your local data is protected by your device’s built-in security, and iCloud data is encrypted by Apple. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
